How do I setup my account?

Once you receive your Stanford ID number, you can set up your Stanford account! By setting up your Stanford account, you will be able to access your student portal (Axess) and Stanford email.

Setup SUNet ID (Stanford University Network Identifier)

  1. Go to accounts.stanford.edu
  2. Select “Create” (If you are a returning student, select “Status Checker”)
  3. Select “I am faculty, staff, or a student/I have a University ID”
  4. Complete the prompts
  5. REMEMBER - once you create your SUNet ID, you will not be able to change it

Please note that it may take 1-2 business days for your SUNet ID to activate.

Two-Step Authentication

  1. Visit accounts.stanford.edu 
  2. Select “Two-Step” to set up two-step authentication
  3. Select your preferred form of authentication. We recommend students use Duo Push 

Axess

  1. To activate Axess, visit axess.stanford.edu
  2. Use your SUNet ID and password to log in 
  3. You may be asked to use two-step authentication, so keep your device nearby

Stanford email

  1. Visit webmail.stanford.edu
  2. Input your SUNet ID followed by “@stanford.edu” (e.g. jdoe@stanford.edu) and your password
