Students with a Stanford sponsored I-20 must maintain enrollment in a minimum of 8 units throughout the Summer Quarter.
All international students who do not have a study-eligible visa are required to obtain an F-1 student visa in order to continue their participation in the Stanford Summer Session program.
Students on an F-1 visa are required to be enrolled full-time to maintain their visa. During the summer, 8 units is considered full-time.
To obtain a Stanford sponsored I-20 you must first apply for the Stanford Summer Session program and be accepted into the program. Once admission is offered, you will need to complete the acceptance process.
Stanford will sponsor the I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant F-1 Student Status) which is the first step in the process of obtaining an F-1 Student Visa.
